Waiwera Water Australia

Waiwera Water is a premium, award winning artesian mineral water, bottled at the source in New Zealand since 1875.

WAI means ‘water’ in Māori, the language of the indigenous people of New Zealand. And WERA means ‘hot’. Together, they make up WAIWERA, pronounced ‘why-wear-ah’.
The first bottled water in the Southern Hemisphere.
Since 1875.
In 1875, Waiwera water was first bottled in its distinctive Georgia Green bottle and promoted as ‘the elixir of life’. Nurtured by Māori legend, a new tradition was born.
Fast forward to the 21st century. Today, Waiwera is livelier than ever, eager to put New Zealand back on the world stage. Again.

Waiwera Artesian Water comes in both glass and BPA-free PET bottles. Waiwera Artesian Water is a premium product, and as such is distributed in many of the finest dining outlets, boutique hotels and specialised gourmet stores around the world.

The perfect drinking water deserves nothing less than the perfect vessel.
With this in mind, we commissioned inventor and design maven David Melrose to bring it to life. Inspired by the classic 1875 design, David’s iconic creation retains some characteristics of the original, like its distinct asymmetric shape and bold embossing, while renouncing idiosyncrasies such as the 'bottomless lie-flat feature' and cork stopper.
Look more closely and you’ll notice the completely free form nature of the bottle. Flowing naturally, it’s non-concentric and subtly different from every angle, giving the impression that it was hand blown, the traditional way.
Award show judges have noticed too, and since 2006 the iconic Waiwera bottle has garnered international acclaim from the United States to New Zealand. Including the coveted ‘Best Packaging’ title at the prestigious bottledwaterworld International Design Awards in Milan.
